There was a healthy trade of Belted Galloways and included the highest price ever paid for a Belted Galloway sold through an auction ring. The pre-sale show judge was Des Dunne a well known breeder in Ireland.
The Belted Galloway Championship was awarded to Mochrum Estate for their 2 year old bull Mochrum Cantana. This Huntfield Hector son out of Mochrum Larissa 3rd was sold for 3,400 guineas to R.K.G. Farms, Twynholm, Dumfries & Galloway. Reserve Champion was Jane Smith's bulling heifer Whitepool Moonshadow. Sired by Whitepool Jack the Lad out of Whitepool Moonbeam she was sold to Mrs. C. McMillan of Cumnock, Ayrshire for 2,500 guineas.
There was a record auction price of 7,500 guineas which was paid by Tim Oliver for the 2nd prize bull, Lullenden Aztec Warrior. He was bred by Miss Helen Hamilton of Whitehope, Innerleithen. His Sire was Whitepool Warlord and his dam, Lullenden Abbie, has been cow of the year, and Aztec Warrior was her fifth calf.
